To Rise Above ....
Prejudice
Discrimination
Segregation
Tyranny
Terrorism
Is a lofty goal
Often waylaid by
Over inflated egos
Enormous personal agendas
Bloated by dreams of personal gain
The powerful few
Slink through
Our Freedom
Hoping to hoard it all for themselves
On this 4th of July Eve
Let us reflect on the Freedoms
We often take for granted
And make a personal pledge of allegiance
To stand together
And protect the Freedoms
We are celebrating tomorrow
Never forget
We are ALL the guardians of Freedom
Military service and uniform is not required
The responsibility to protect our Freedom
Lies with each and every one of us
The only task more difficult than Rising Above
Is
Staying on Top
"Change does not roll in on the wheels of
inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must
straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you
unless your back is bent."
Martin Luther King, Jr.
